On Thursday in NYC, we swam with Carrington at a YMCA in Chelsea and were overwhelmed with the amount of people in our lane. You’d get into a groove and then suddenly there’s a person’s foot in your mouth. It was impossible to get into a rhythm. Plus, there was so much chlorine in the pool that it was hard not to asphyxiate. Carrington has the toughest workout situation of the group and I’m impressed she logs in so many kms per month.
Then we hopped on a plane and the next day were swimming with Emily in the blue Mediterranean. Ahhhh. We swam both Saturday and Sunday– a 3k and 4k. Sunday’s swim…. to church and back! It was cold (13.5 degrees C) but honestly I prefer that to an over-chlorinated and over-crowded pool. Could it be that this pool-bred swimmer is starting to become more of an Open Water swimmer? When I think back to all my fears about Open Water swimming just a couple months ago, I’d never have guessed.
Emily says she’s glad we’re back– not sure then why she was trying to drown Mauricio and me.
Thank you Sailfish for our new awesome wetsuits! They make you glide through the water.
